When a Scotsman, an Englishman and an Irishman walk on stage at this year’s 10th Anniversary Glasgow Americana Festival it will certainly be no joke.

For the talented trio of singer/songwriters – Roddy Hart (the Scot), Boo Hewerdine from England and Northern Ireland’s Ben Glover – will be performing in the round, with no shortage of superb material to choose from.

Individually they are terrific, collectively they will be equally so for this one-off evening show at the CCA on Saturday, October 8.

RODDY HART WEB
Roddy Hart, with his Lonesome Fire Band, have a new album due out in this year while the BBC Radio Scotland presenter has also been busy curating Celtic Connections’ Roaming Roots Review and the Neil Young 70th birthday live sessions in Aberdeen and Glasgow.

Boo Hewerdine
Boo Hewerdine, who has a new CD and digital EP scheduled for a summer release, is always a busy, busy man and an inspiration to many musicians. His skills in production are always in demand and recent work has been completed with Edi Reader and Chris Difford of Squeeze.

20607946769-28c3fc6b50-o
Nashville-based Ben Glover’s 5th and most recent album, Atlantic is a great collection of pure Americana – and he enjoyed huge success at this year’s inaugural Americana Music Association UK Awards.

Blackbirds, which he co-wrote with American singer-songwriter, Gretchen Peters, was named International Song of the Year.

“This gig brings together three outstanding artistes in a format that will highlight their songwriting skills to the full,” said Kevin Morris, Glasgow Americana Festival director.

“They are accomplished and entertaining so this is going to be one top-class event.”
