James Grant added to bill for Gram Parsons Tribute Night

james_grantScottish singer/songwriter James Grant will appear at The Glasgow Americana Festival final night event this year – “Grievous Angel – Gram Parsons 40th Anniversary Celebration.”

Grant, the Love and Money frontman and hugely popular solo artiste, joins the likes of Madison Violet, Roddy Hart, Ben Glover, The Parsonage Choir and The City Sinners to mark the work of Parsons, who died 40 years ago this year.

It will be a celebration of the work of the tortured artiste in the nudie suit whose “Cosmic American Music” mix of soul, country, rock and blues has ceaselessly influenced countless bands and singer/songwriters over the past four decades to create what we call alt.country today, or Americana even.

This event in honour of Parsons, who played with the likes of the International Submarine Band, The Byrds, The Flying Burritto Brothers, Emmylou Harris and, of course The Fallen Angels, is being staged on Sunday, October 6 in Cottiers Theatre.

Festival director, Kevin Morris of The Fallen Angels Club said: “It is great that James Grant is able to join us for this special event that rounds off this year’s Glasgow Americana Festival.

“Like all the other excellent acts on the bill, James Grant will do Parson’s music justice. We are still looking to confirm further acts for what will be a memorable evening.”

Gram Parsons 40th Anniversary Tribute, Cottiers Theatre, Sunday, 6th October 6, 2013.
