Devon Sproule signs up for Glasgow Americana Festival

Devon SprouleDevon Sproule – it’s pronounced like roll in rock ‘n roll – will perform in a special guest afternoon show at this year’s Glasgow Americana Festival.

The Virginian, who lives in Austin, Texas is currently working on “Colours,” her follow-up to the highly-rated album, “I Love You, Go Easy.” She made a lot of new fans following an appearance on BBC2’s “Later..with Jools Holland” show.

Devon, whose husband is singer-songwriter Paul Curreri, has had her distinctive and lyrically transparent music compared with the likes of Lucinda Williams, Rickie Lee Jones and Patty Griffin as she mixes folk with country and jazz-style, pop twists.

“She is supremely talented and engaging so this should be a show to savour,” said Kevin Morris, the Festival director.

“Sproule’s voice is an elastic instrument of old-school soul….” – Uncut.
