Texan hell-raiser Blaze Foley was shot dead in 1989 while living up to his reputation as a rebellious champion of the underdog. His songs have been recorded by Merle Haggard, Lyle Lovett and John Prine. Lucinda Williams penned “Drunken Angel” as her tribute and Gurf Morlix has just recorded an album of Foley’s songs and will introduce the film and perform two of them at this first UK screening of Kevin Triplett’s celebration of The Duct Tape Messiah.
